Making an Appointment
You can make an appointment by phone. We are available daily from 08:00 to 17:00 at phone number 020 308 6055 or by email at info@kaakchirurgie-zuidas.nl. For the reimbursement of your treatment, it is important that you have a referral letter written by your dentist, general practitioner, or medical specialist.
The First Appointment
During your first appointment, the oral surgeon will ask you a few questions and may perform a physical examination. Often, it is necessary to take an X-ray. This allows the oral surgeon to investigate the cause of your complaints. The oral surgeon will then discuss the medical solution for your complaints and provide more information about your treatment. If there is enough time during this appointment, the surgeon may suggest starting the treatment. Of course, the choice is always yours, and you decide whether or not to proceed with the treatment.
If you do not understand something, feel free to mention it during the conversation with the oral surgeon.
It is important to be well prepared for the conversation with the oral surgeon. Here are some tips for good preparation:
- Write down your questions in advance so you don’t forget to ask them during the conversation.
- Think carefully about what you want to tell the surgeon.
- Ask where you can find more information about your condition, the examination, or the treatment.
- If you need time to think about the next steps after the conversation, you can always ask the oral surgeon for some time to reflect.
The Procedure
After the first consultation, you may need to return for further examination or a medical procedure. This procedure can be performed on an outpatient or inpatient basis, depending on the type of procedure and whether it is done under local anesthesia or general anesthesia. It is possible that you may need to be admitted for a few days after the procedure.
Outpatient Treatment
Outpatient treatment is a procedure that takes place without or under local anesthesia. For most outpatient treatments, you can go to any of our locations. On the scheduled day and time, you will check in at the receptionist, who will direct you to the waiting area. One of our assistants will then call you in. Specific information about the treatment and guidelines for preparation will be provided to you by the oral surgeon before the procedure. After an outpatient procedure, you can go home the same day.
Day Treatment or Inpatient Admission
For day treatment, you will be admitted for a maximum of one day. If the procedure requires inpatient care, you will usually stay for 2 to 3 days.
Before the procedure under general anesthesia/sedation, preparations are necessary. You will first complete a preoperative questionnaire, which includes questions about your health, medications you are using, and any allergies. The completed questionnaire will be reviewed along with your medical records by the anesthesiologist. If there are any unclear points or additional questions, the anesthesiologist will contact you. Two days before the procedure under general anesthesia/sedation, the medical secretary will call to confirm the exact time of your appointment.
It is important that you are "fasting" before your surgery. This means following certain guidelines about food and drink intake, which you will have received with your confirmation and can also find here.
Follow-up
Sometimes, it is necessary to make a follow-up appointment with the oral surgeon who performed your procedure. This appointment is usually scheduled directly with the secretary.
During the follow-up, you will discuss the results of the procedure. You will have the opportunity to express whether you are satisfied with the outcome. The oral surgeon will also assess whether the results are satisfactory.
Aftercare
Kaakchirurgie Zuidas is committed to high-quality and personalized care. This care does not end immediately after the procedure. Aftercare is just as important as the pre-examination and treatment. After a treatment, you will receive information about guidelines during the aftercare procedure. You will also be given an overview of possible complications, phone numbers in case of uncertainties, questions, or complications. In some cases, the assistant will call you the day after the treatment to ask about your experience with the procedure. This information will be recorded in the electronic patient record. We would appreciate hearing how you experienced the treatment at Kaakchirurgie Zuidas. This is valuable information for us to continuously improve our care. We are happy to know what we do well, but suggestions for improvement are also very useful to us. You can share your experience with Kaakchirurgie Zuidas through the patient review form.
