Removing teeth
For various reasons, it may be necessary to have a tooth, wisdom tooth or root remnant removed by the oral surgeon. Your dentist can explain this in more detail and will refer you. The oral surgeons at Kaakchirurgie Zuidas have the knowledge and experience to perform the treatment for you in a safe, quick and painless manner.
The treatment
You will be given an anesthetic similar to that of the dentist. Tell us if you are anxious, so we can take this into account. We cover you with sterile cloths so that we can work as cleanly as possible. After the anesthesia has taken effect, the tooth, wisdom tooth or root remnant is removed. During treatment, you may hear noises and experience a lot of pressure. The treatment should not hurt. Sometimes the wound is sutured; this is not always necessary. The material used for suturing dissolves on its own after 1 to 3 weeks. The treatment takes about 15 minutes. After treatment, a gauze is placed in your mouth to stop bleeding. You should bite down on the gauze for at least 30 min.
Aftercare
If necessary, you will be given a prescription for painkillers, a mouthwash or any other medication. A check-up appointment is usually not necessary.
