Contracts with health insurers
The process of signing contracts with health insurers is unfortunately a long and complex one. New clinics must first establish a track record of quality, accreditation, and certification before health insurers are willing to negotiate care contracts.
Health insurers also consider the number of patients a new clinic attracts. As a new clinic, we also need time to build a stable flow of patients that is attractive to insurers.
Although we currently do not have care contracts, choosing Kaakchirurgie Zuidas offers numerous advantages over traditional hospitals.
The main advantages at a glance:
Do you take one or more blood thinners? Inform your doctor about this. Sometimes, it may be necessary to adjust the dosage of a blood thinner or stop it completely before the treatment. The doctor will assess with you whether this is safe. In that case, an adjustment will be made to your blood thinner regimen, and a new treatment appointment will be scheduled. If you are using blood thinners, it may mean that your treatment cannot take place immediately.
Kaakchirurgie Zuidas performs treatments that fall under the basic package of your health insurance. This means that these treatments will be reimbursed. Kaakchirurgie Zuidas also performs treatments that fall outside the basic insurance or require special approval (authorization) from your health insurer. Additional information can be found on our webpage about reimbursements.
You can request and collect an up-to-date medication overview (AMO) from your pharmacy. This will list your current medication. Please bring it with you to your appointment. The doctor will review the AMO with you. If any changes have occurred to the list, please inform your doctor.
Kaakchirurgie Zuidas offers the option for treatments under sedation or anesthesia. We use sedation for people who are too anxious to undergo treatment under local anesthesia. Sedation is possible for minor procedures such as wisdom tooth removal, full extractions, or implant placement. You can discuss this option with your treating oral surgeon.
You can expect the following side effects from the treatment:
- Pain for an average of one week, discomfort for an average of two weeks;
- Swollen cheek: swelling is greatest two to three days after the procedure;
- Fever for two days;
- Limited ability to open the mouth.
You do not need to worry about the above side effects unless your symptoms worsen again three days after the treatment. In that case, please contact us. For more information, download the brochure "Aftercare after jaw surgery."
